A little over a year ago, when the first iPhone launched, a friend asked me to film the madness at the Apple store in San Francisco. The idea was to use the video as a little promotional tool for mythings.com.
Once I was done editing the video, I can remember the horror that was uploading the clips to YouTube in a format and an aspect ratio that didn’t result in a crap looking video. MyThings didn’t want the YouTube logo on the player. They didn’t want YouTube ads coming through the player. They wanted control.
It’s funny that a year later we have the tool that provides all of that and more. The sad part was it took us another four months just to come to the idea.
So today I may not have the new iPhone, but I got the video tools I wanted.
Sorry to be so sappy…
Here’s a link to the YouTube video I uploaded a year ago: http://youtube.com/watch?v=nrBrlpWNDeE
I’m also using this post to illustrate the importance of thumbnails in online video.
