At the company headquarters in Silicon Valley, where he was presenting a set of new laptops to the press last October, I mentioned the birthday to him. Jobs recoiled at any suggestion of nostalgia. “I don’t think about that,” he said. “When I got back here in 1997, I was looking for more room, and I found an archive of old Macs and other stuff. I said, ‘Get it away!’ and I shipped all that shit off to Stanford. If you look backward in this business, you’ll be crushed. You have to look forward.”

ARCADE FIRE DOCUMENTARY: GREEK THEATER SCENES

I’ve got a list of things to post up here, all of which seem lame to me, but you’ll be the judge of that dear reader(s). In the meantime, I wanted to upload a quick clip from the new Arcade Fire documentary Miroir Noir.

I was at this concert at the Greek, but I have to say that watching it on tape is far more exciting and unfortunately the sound is better as well. I thought that all the lighting effects were meant for the crowd, but this one is clearly used to pump up the band as well. It gives me chills…

Going through the exercise of actually trying to clean up this blog and putting some real effort into updating. Any encouragement would be greatly appreciated. ;-)

A little over a year ago, when the first iPhone launched, a friend asked me to film the madness at the Apple store in San Francisco. The idea was to use the video as a little promotional tool for mythings.com.

Once I was done editing the video, I can remember the horror that was uploading the clips to YouTube in a format and an aspect ratio that didn’t result in a crap looking video. MyThings didn’t want the YouTube logo on the player. They didn’t want YouTube ads coming through the player. They wanted control.

It’s funny that a year later we have the tool that provides all of that and more. The sad part was it took us another four months just to come to the idea.

So today I may not have the new iPhone, but I got the video tools I wanted.
